My research focuses on the organization and functioning of symbiotic systems of insects and the insect developmental biology and morphology (oogenesis, female gonad structure). In recent years, I have studied: the symbiotic systems of mealybugs and their cophylogenesis with the host insect (Iuventus plus V); the evolution of symbiotic systems of planthoppers, with particular emphasis on the substitution of symbionts by others during the evolution of this group of insects (Sonata 13); and the impact of geographical isolation and the founder's effect on the composition of symbiotic systems of insects, with an invasive treehopper Stictocephala bisonia as the case study.
