The award in the category - highly rated scientific achievements which were the basis for awarding the degree of habilitated doctor in 2020 - was granted for the analysis of the diversity, function and evolution of symbiotic insect microorganisms on the example of cicadas (bacteria and fungi). And for contributing to the description of a new, previously unknown type of biological organization and an understanding of the evolutionary processes that shape the interactions between animals and microorganisms.
