Recently, Piotr and Michał gave a short interview for Radio Kraków about the research trip to Greenland, insects, and the role of symbionts in their life and evolution. They also highlighted issues connected to global warming, which are especially visible in this corner of the world.
Our article (Open Access) describing heritable nutritional endosymbionts in Dictyopharidae planthoppers and alternative modes of their transmission across host generations has just been published in mBio! Congrats to Ania, Diego, Piotr and all of the co-authors.
July 6, 2021 Piotr and Michał, together with prof. Tomas Roslin started their Greenlandic adventure. Their target is Zackenberg Research Station in North East Greenland, where they're joining in research on insect communities in one of the most rapidly changing corners of the world.
As a team we are trying to spend some time together outside the university walls. In June, to celebrate summer, together with our friends and families we organized a barbecue. It was really great to be outside, lying on a blanket, playing badminton. We definitely plan to do it again! And again! And... again!
New preprint on bioRxiv - alternative transmission patterns in independently acquired nutritional co-symbionts of Dictyopharidae planthoppers
Our preprint describing the diversity, functions, and particularly alternative mechanisms of vertical transmission of nutritional symbionts in a family of planthoppers is now online!
