Strong representation of the team at the Gutenberg Workshop: The Rise and Fall of Mutualisms in Germany!

Strong representation of the team at the Gutenberg Workshop: The Rise and Fall of Mutualisms in Germany!

Ania, Piotr, Karol, Michał, Cata, Diego and Junchen participated in Guthenberg Workshops: The Rise and Fall of Mutualisms - Ecological and Evolutionary Dynamics of Host-Microbe Symbioses 13-15.10.2021 r. Ingelheim, Germany.

The event took place in amazing venue and it's program was full of great talks and posters presentations - organized both online and in-person. It was really refreshing to be able to meet finally(!) in person all of those researchers, talk about some interesting results and approaches. It was also great opportunity to talk about potential collaboration.

We really would like to thank Martin Kaltenpoth and the organizing committee for putting together an excellent workshop, providing a much needed opportunity, after a year and a half of COVID lockdowns, for meeting other researchers in-person!

2. Anna Michalik, Diego C. Franco, Michał Kobiałka, Junchen Deng, Teresa Szklarzewicz, Adam Stroiński, Piotr Łukasik: Conserved symbiont function and organization of symbiont-containing tissue across planthoppers hosting different heritable endosymbionts

3. Diego C. Franco, Anna Michalik, Piotr Łukasik: Caught in the act: characterizing a recent Sodalis

4. Karol Nowak, Michał Kolasa, Emily Hartop, Piotr Łukasik: Tracking microbiota across fly communities

5. Michał Kolasa, Monika Prus, Mateusz Buczek, Hamed Azarbad, Piotr Łukasik: Counting stars in a cloudy sky: a protocol for assessing microbiome composition and abundance

6. Piotr Łukasik, Mateusz Buczek, Monika Prus, Michał R. Kolasa: High-throughput insect microbiome surveys: challenges, solutions, and the new workflow

7. Junchen Deng, Diego C. Franco, Anna Michalik, Piotr Łukasik: Rearrangements and the loss of amino acid biosynthesis pathways in the highly reduced genome of an ancient symbiont in planthoppers (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha).
