New preprint on bioRxiv - alternative transmission patterns in independently acquired nutritional co-symbionts of Dictyopharidae planthoppers

New preprint on bioRxiv - alternative transmission patterns in independently acquired nutritional co-symbionts of Dictyopharidae planthoppers

Our preprint describing the diversity, functions, and particularly alternative mechanisms of vertical transmission of nutritional symbionts in a family of planthoppers is now online!

We show that in dictyopharid planthoppers, their ancient heritable symbionts Sulcia and Vidania have been repeatedly complemented by gammaproteobacteria Sodalis or Arsenophonus, which are localized in separate bacteriomes and contribute to B vitamin synthesis.
